You know you live in a bad city when the Mayor is in jail overnight because he didn't follow court orders.

The Mayor of Detroit is throat deep in charges and lawsuits and this clown comes to Windsor. He came here to try and work on another shady deal, concerning a possible sale of the Windsor/Detroit tunnel and the judge back in the States called his ass on it! He put him in jail.
You go dude! Good for him.
Kwame only spent one night in jail though. When you're a big name the law don't mean shit!
Living right across the river from Detroit we get plenty of their news and they keep reporting how he left the state of Michigan. They even go so far as to report that he came to Windsor.
Now I know that most Americans have a hard time with geography but I'm sure they must realize that Windsor, Ontario is in Canada.
He left the Country people!

All the trouble this guy is in and they didn't even seize his passport?
Another question, what happened to this Super-secure border crossing? No one recognized Kwame's big ass?

All I can say is he needs to remember one thing. YOU'RE THE MAYOR!! Get your shit together dude. You've got crack heads in your city who are in less trouble than your ass.

Lately my local news has been reporting on possible library closings. The reason cited for the closing of smaller branches are financial mostly. They plan to consolidate smaller branches with other facilities to save money. The people may have to walk a little further to get to a library but jobs will be saved and operating costs will be decreased. This made sense to me right up until I read an article in the Windsor Star today.
A story in the Windsor Star by reporter Craig Pearson, revealed that the Library board has been paying the former CEO (Brian Bell) since March, while he is on sick leave. This guy can't work because he finds library management too stressful? No problem. If you are off work and you are entitled to benefits I say good for you. However this guy is collecting benefits while he articles at a local law firm! It's reported that we the taxpayers may have actually covered some of his education costs too! Public records show he earns a salary of around $133,000.00 a year for his former position, which he held for eleven years!
Must be (expletive) nice!
Pay for that shit yourself.

These type of stories irritate me the same way it would get to me if someone were to grab me by the ball hairs and just start ripping!

These abuses must stop!

Fame

What does it mean to be famous these days?
I ask because it seems people can become famous for doing nothing more than being born into a family with at least one authentic famous (or even infamous) person in it.
Hulk Hogan's family.
The Gotti's.
The Hilton's and I really don't get that one.

I think about the multitudes of aspiring actors and actress' out there, desperately seeking their day in the spotlight and then some bubble headed bimbo with a popular last name comes on the scene and steals the show. That's gotta hurt.

Another thing,

I can't believe so many people care about Brad Pitt and Angelina's newborns as much as they do. People care so much that they can negotiate a million dollar deal for exclusive rights to the first photo's of these little urchins.
Once again, I'm watching a reputable news program and they start telling me about this "Branjelina" baby deal.
"Who gives a fuck!" was my first thought but then it hit me, a lot of people must want to see these kids. Personally I don't get it.
I don't like it when people I know say some shit like, "Hey Clay, let me show you some baby pictures."
These days I tell my friends about online photo album sites and tell them to post those pictures online and if the urge to look at baby pictures ever strikes me I'll know where I can find them.

So you know my ass isn't paying to look at somebody's baby pictures

I don't know maybe it's just me.

(I haven't posted in some time so I thought I'd just put something down and this was one of those issues that puzzle me.)

8-LIMBED BABY BECOMES NORMAL GIRL

This was the hyper-link title to a story about a baby that was born with - well, you know eight limbs. I don’t know the exact combination of limbs this poor little girl was born with, and I don’t want to know.
My beef with this story (especially the title) is this poor girl will never become a “normal” girl as long as she is referred to as an “eight-limbed baby” They can’t even call her, “the baby formally known as ....”
Right?
Not only was the title of this story idiotic but I couldn’t help myself and rested my mouse over the link and a little bubble popped up with a snippet of the story. It started off with the girls REAL full name!
So much for normal.

LUNG SLICE ON RYE

HUSBAND AND WIFE LUNG SLICE was one of the dishes to be featured at the 2008 Olympics. They decided some of these dishes might need a name change. Other dishes were, "Bean curd made by a pock-marked woman" and "Chicken without a sexual life." I'm not shittin' ya. According to CNN these were the literal translations for the dishes.

Cuzzo's Computer Crisis

I think my little Frankencomputer is finally ready to call it quits. Recently I've been watching the files on my D drive (storage)and yesterday I lost a big one. When I turned the computer on and went to call up a file of mine nothing was found. I went through "my computer" and the folder with all my SAVED files was empty.

There were so many files in that folder that I never got around to uploading to an online storage service and now they appear to be lost forever. I have to disconnect the drive in order to hopefully spare my main hard-drive from infection.
If I'm lucky I'll only have to replace the secondary drive.
Sure, I was pissed but shit happens. (That's what I say today. Yesterday was another story)
So, I thought it would be good idea to share this annoying experience with you in the hopes that someone may learn from my procrastination.
I never seem to.

Windsor - 3bag garbage bag limit

Here in Windsor, Ontario our City council is mulling over a three bag garbage limit in order to inspire home owners to recycle more. At least that is their claim.
Once again this is an issue that will not affect me personally however I already see the problems this type of policy will bring to our fair city. We will have neighbors fighting over who threw their garbage where. An increase in illegal dumping. City wide rat infestation. Raccoon issues and the list goes on and on.
For the most part families will be able to adhere to such policy but let me just give you one "for example":
It's summer and you just cleaned the pool so you call up the extended family and throw yourself a nice big BBQ. Everyone has a blast and they were even kind enough to put all of their beer cans in the recycle box.
Good stuff right?
No.
The day comes you go to the garage and notice that you have your usual two and a half bags of garbage (pretty much the limit) with an additional four bags from the BBQ. With the three bag policy in place it might take you a month to get rid of those extra bags. And then ony if you become a trash tyrant with your family.

WRAP UP
If you tell people we are killing the planet they laugh at you. They'll keep laughing right up until that tsunami/tornado/hurricane hits their asses but untl then, they don't care.
It's obvious.
However, we do know that immediate incentives work. You don't see yards full of empty beer bottles do you. Even in my little "for example" above, most people would have a shit fit if someone threw their returnable beer cans into the recycle box.
What the politicians should focus on is cutting the head off the evil monster. Get these packaging companies to be more compliant with the bigger issue. Get them to, "think out of the box" so to speak.

JUST A THOUGHT
Everyone buys laundry detergent, so why not have silo-like dispensers at the grocery store. People would bring in their own bucket and fill that bad boy with the amount they feel like lugging back home. The companies could dress up their silo any way they want. They could have big flippin' ads all over the damn thing. Who cares. That would be a huge reduction in waste right there.
Presently, a skid arrives at the grocery store, wrapped in plastic, containing big boxes that hold the smaller boxes of detergent. Employees at the store break down the skid opening the big boxes to pull out the little boxes that go on the shelves for us to take home and throw away. And this happens for everything you see in the grocery store.
I know when it comes to my scenerio, the powers that be would bitch about the costs of such a radical change but right now they have costs for bundling cardboard, recycling plastic, and transport costs for bringing in all that extra wasted weight. The cost of employees breaking all that shit down and repacking the wasted packaging for recycling then they must pay to haul all that wasted material off for recycling.
In my brief scenerio all but one of those costs would no longer exist. The detergent would be dropped off in drums, employees empty the drums into the dispensers and the drums return to the producer to be refilled. The drums would be used and reused so many times they pay for themselves and companies would save a fortune in packaging/shipping/warehousing, etc, and we would have one less thing to throw away at home.
Sounds simple to me.
The Government always seems to take the same approach at issues they consider a problem. May it be the selling of cigarettes, to actual smoking, guns, drugs or anything else they could fix by just approaching the source.
My last bit of advice for the decision makers out there would have to be,
Quit blaming the end user for the problem and deal with the supplier and you might actually accomplish something.
